Dawn at the Gates.

June 12, 2012

Dawn on my last day in Jordan. A moment of zen after pulling an all-nighter to finish my video piece. The Gates of Jordan beckon. I wish I could stay.

The Gates of Jordan at dawn.

Your writing on cigarettes is insightful about stress. You describe the view of US citizens toward smokers speaking about stress. Your carrying the “kill sticks” in another country where the stress is high to get a little comfort. Returning to the US where the sticks are $8 a pack, you stop. I wonder about the stress being greater combined with cheaper cigarettes in Jordan makes them easier to get the comfort. They cost more in US because we tax them higher. We will raise the taxes here to help pay the cost of smoking while the industry can out source to continue growth.

I am glad you can stop upon return to the US.
